This publication was produced as part of the third edition of the “Document Laboratory” project. It is a collective work by students participating in the Photographic Document Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź.

The starting point for the presented works is a subjective interpretation of the concept of spiritual materialism. Each artist attempts to translate this concept into the language of imagery, creating works that balance between the material and the immaterial.

The collected works present both affirmative and critical perspectives on spiritual materialism—ranging from the need to ascribe meaning to objects and experiences to reflections on their commodification, consumption, and superficiality.
