American Beauty

From June 2–28, the gallery will be open according to its regular schedule: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Sundays: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays: 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM.

Admission to the exhibition is according to the MGSŁ price list (regular ticket: 6 PLN; reduced-price ticket: 4 PLN; Thursdays: free admission). “American Beauty” is a photographic series composed of portraits of people encountered on the streets of New York City. The project begins with a reflection on the notion of beauty—not understood as an aesthetic ideal, but as a phenomenon difficult to define clearly, perceptible only in brief moments of encounter with another person. The faces of New Yorkers became the artist’s inspiration in her search for a form of beauty that, although individual and unique, may be recognized as a kind of universal pattern.
